Turkey & Apple Burgers: The Perfect Post-Leg Day Meal

Turkey & Apple Burgers: The Perfect Post-Leg Day Meal

After a brutal leg workout, there’s only one thing on my mind: a solid recovery meal that actually tastes good.

These Turkey & Apple Burgers are one of my go-to post-leg session meals because they’re packed with protein, juicy (not dry like most turkey burgers 😅), and ridiculously easy to make.

The secret?
Grated apple.

It keeps the turkey moist, adds a subtle sweetness, and takes these burgers from average to elite.

Whether you’re meal prepping for the week or just need a high-protein dinner that hits the spot, this recipe is a winner.

🍔 Ingredients

Yields:

6–8 generous patties

Ingredient

Amount

Turkey Mince

1 kg

Large Apple (grated)

1

Almond Flour

1/2 cup

Butter (for the pan)

40g

Mixed Herbs

1 tbsp

Salt

1 tsp

Black Pepper

1/2 tsp

👨🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the “Juice” Factor

Start by grating your apple — skin on is totally fine, just avoid the core.

If the apple is super watery, give it one light squeeze, but don’t remove too much of the juice.

That natural moisture is exactly what keeps these burgers juicy instead of dry.

2. Mix the Patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine:

  • Turkey mince

  • Grated apple

  • Almond flour

  • Mixed herbs

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

Mix everything together until well combined, but don’t overwork it.

You want tender burgers, not rubber hockey pucks 😅

3. Form & Chill

Shape the mixture into patties around 2cm thick.

Pro tip: use your thumb to press a small indent into the center of each patty.

This stops them from puffing up into footballs while cooking.

If you’ve got time, let them sit in the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up before cooking.

4. The Sear 🔥

Heat a large pan or BBQ over medium-high heat and melt a generous knob of butter.

Once the butter starts foaming, add your patties.

Cook for around 5–6 minutes per side, until golden on the outside and fully cooked through.

That buttery sear takes them to another level.

Final Thoughts

Simple. High-protein. Full of flavour.

These burgers are perfect post-workout fuel and honestly just a great meal any day of the week.

Serve them with roasted potatoes, sweet potato fries, salad, or just stack two on a plate and call it a day 😮💨👌

Give them a try and let me know how they turn out!
